Social Distancing
Our fly-in this year will follow social distancing rules. Once you have landed please do not gather in groups of more than 6 people indoors or outdoors and keep your distance from others to 2m apart. The toilets have hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities.
- meet in groups of 6 or less

- limit how many different people you see socially over a short period of time

The airfield.
Tiffenden Airfield has a website at http://tiffendenairfield.weebly.com
Tiffenden Airfield is on the half-mil maps and plates can be found in Pooley’s and AFE as well as online. The airfield is also on SkyDemon which has the MOSTE UP TO DATE AIRFIELD PLATE. Airfield information can be found online at http://tiffendenairfield.weebly.com/airfield-information.html
Tiffenden is 600 metres long with a surface of well-cut firm grass. The airfield is situated on a bearing of 136 degrees at a range of 5.2 NM from Headcorn aerodrome at N51 05.68 E000 44.5. Headcorn radio is available on 122.210 where fuel is available. The runways are approximately 06/24 & 07/25 and are of firm, well mown grass with a significant upslope on RW06 & RW07.
Arrivals
Landings up hill are strongly advised uphill on RW07 with a tailwind of up to 10 knots. A wheeler landing in these conditions has been carried out by the author and the aircraft stops within 60% of the landing distance. Obtain a met briefing from the organisers on the day before departure.
Be advised that in the last third of runway 25 the downslope increase significantly and aircraft without brakes will have difficulty stopping from any significant ground speed. If the winds on the day are in excess of 10 knots from a westerly direction exercise extreme caution and consider delaying your departure or diverting to Headcorn and contact the organisers.
A Hand-Held ground radio will be in operation on SafetyCom 135.480 – Blind Calls ‘Tiffenden Airfield’
Departures
A downhill departure should be made on RW25 with a NE wind up to 5 knots. With a Ne wind greater than 5 knots, uphill departures on RW07 represent no difficulty for a Stampe.
Look Out
Be respectful of our neighbours. There are quite a few residential properties around the airfield.
